The standards are organised in ten chapters, list 28 key performance indicators in an annexure (most of them for monthly monitoring), and lead to a four-year accreditation certificate. This guide was checked against NABH's own document on 11 October 2026.

Compiling indicators by hand each month is slow and hard to verify, and a discrepancy is the kind of finding an assessor can raise.
NABH also expects data to be verified by the quality team and analysed (PSQ.3, objective element c).

No. NABH describes its ART standards as applicable to organisations "willing to apply", so accreditation is voluntary. It is separate from the legal registration an ART clinic needs under the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021 and its Rules. NABH's standards state that one purpose is to provide an objective system of empanelment by insurance companies and other third parties, but we found no NABH or insurer source that makes NABH accreditation a requirement for an ART clinic. Ask any insurer or network for its written criteria. Checked 11 October 2026.
NABH's ART Clinics standards (1st edition) list 28 indicators in Annexure 1, not nine. Most are ART laboratory and outcome indicators, such as ICSI and IVF fertilisation rate, Day 5 usable blastocyst rate, clinical pregnancy rate and blastocyst cryosurvival rate, and the list also includes medication errors, surgical site infection, patient falls, time for initial assessment and patient satisfaction. The annexure gives a definition and formula for each and lists monthly data collation for the ART indicators. The standards also require the clinic to identify and monitor its own key indicators under standard PSQ.3. Checked 11 October 2026.
Not in Annexure 1, which gives definitions, formulas, units and frequency but no pass or fail thresholds that we found. NABH accreditation is scored on objective elements: a clinic must meet all legal requirements, reach at least 80% overall compliance and score every Core element at 4 or above, among other rules. Any benchmark percentage you see quoted should be traced to its source before you rely on it.
The certificate is valid for four years, with a surveillance assessment at 14 to 18 months and a renewal application six months before expiry, per NABH's process chart in the ART Clinics standards. A pre-assessment is optional. NABH does not publish a total preparation time that we found, so any preparation timeline is a planning assumption.
Software can compute indicators from structured cycle data, which removes manual compilation, but you should check any system against NABH's own Annexure 1 list rather than a generic claim. A general EMR cannot compute fertility indicators because it lacks structured embryology and outcome data. CuraVerto's IVF module computes embryology lab indicators such as fertilisation rate and blastocyst formation rate from cycle records, and it does not currently claim to reproduce all 28 of NABH's listed indicators.
